Movement toward healing
Pat’s Philosophy:
I believe that art therapy and any creative therapy can provide the space for the invisible to become visible; promoting healing and thriving in life.
Throughout 30 years of work my focus has utilized therapeutic culturally relevant creative art therapy, promoting the healing of the traumatic outcomes related to historical and intergenerational trauma primarily within Indigenous adolescents and adults.
In order to heal and change to a more positive and empowered self view, we must understand the cause of and the original system our belief systems developed.
Much of traumatic experiences reside in the non-verbal part of the brain. The use of creative art therapy allows the individual to express feelings in a visual and sensory way, allowing for a better understanding of the feeling which allows us to find our own truth.
Therapy work
Utilizing a trauma informed foundational understanding based in neuroscience and art therapy, I approach healing in a holistic manner. Everyone is unique with differing needs and styles of healing, all of which are valid and deserve respect.
The goal of the therapeutic experience is to find our individual truths. During the therapy process I walk along side the individual with honesty, compassion, and a strengths-based wellness approach to healing. I work with adolescent and adult individuals who are interested in healing and growing.
